Topical Sealer Maintenance And Care Sheet

Thank you for choosing concrete surfaces by Studio Make.  Our specially engineered concrete mix design results in a high stain and chemical resistant concrete surface.  Our concrete surfaces may require less maintenance than other concrete and stone surfaces. This maybe dependent on specific sealers or concrete being used on your individual project. For longevity of the surface care and maintenance should be given routinely. Cutting on concrete surfaces must be avoided to ensure a long lasting surface finish.

Cleaning

For general cleaning of concrete, we recommend a neutral cleaner such as simple green of furniture spray polish such as pledge.  DO NOT use any abrasive cleaners on your concrete surfaces (i.e. comet, Ajax).  Also avoid any cleaners containing bleach or vinegar.

Care and maintenance

Your concrete has been sealed with a water based food safe urethane. These sealers durability and application techniques at at the highest industry standards. Unlike penetrating or densifying sealers these sealers will provide good abrasion resistance and excellent acid and stain resistance. For care and maintenance we suggest cleaning the counters with diluted neutral cleaning products such as simple green. Use a micro fiber cloth to wipe surfaces down. Do not cut on the surface this will damage the sealer and sacrifice the protection that it provides. You will need to be mindful of dragging heavy abrasive or sharp objects over the surface as it can lead to scratches. Most household cooking items do not have an effect on this sealer but still best off being mindful to get longevity from the finish. Vinegar standing for hours on end may slightly discolor or etch the surface slightly leading to a repair so be mindful to wipe up spills. Turmeric may leave a slight discoloring in the sealer and most the time can be buffed out but it is best to avoid products sitting for long periods of time containing turmeric such as mustard.

NON TOPICAL SEALER MAINTENANCE AND CARE

If your concrete product has been waxed with a carnauba wax.  This wax is for esthetic and sacrificial purposes only and will wear off.  Carnauba wax will show scratches and abrasions that can be easily buffed off with a soft rag or terry cloth towel.  You may choose any paste, liquid, or spray furniture way to maintain a lustrous appearance for your concrete surface.  The necessity and frequency of wax maintenance will vary depending on the amount of use and your esthetic preference.  For residential surfaces we recommend a weekly application of pledge furniture spray wax depending on the amount of use.  Pledge is an effective, quick and easy way to beautify your concrete surface but pledge can also be used for your daily cleaning as well.  Avoid leaving products such as wine, vinegar, coffee, tea and acidic juices such as lemon for an extended period of time, this will cause etching.

WARRANTY

Studio Make warrants its pieces to be free of defects in workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Defects in workmanship and materials are defined for the purpose of this warranty as causing products to be unsound structurally or mechanically, or altering the appearance of the piece substantially.  Studio Make’s concrete mix designs highly reduce the chances of chipping and/or cracking. Corners and edges can chip if struck by a hard object. As with stone products, nothing is impervious to chipping or natural wear. We do not warranty neglect or abuse of the surface such as use of abrasive cleaning products, abrasive scrubbers, using counters as cutting surfaces, or general misuse or neglect of the surface.  Much of this will depend on the care that is taken by the individual. Please refer to care and maintenance sheets provided by Studio Make.
